I have found that just about every question I've ever had, I found the answer at the library. When I searched for that answer, I came across many more questions and the answers to those. By the end of it all, I had spent hours at the library, digging through books, articles, newspapers, computer archives and mixed media selections.

I'm the biggest nerd I know. I would ditch high school and drive to Central Library in downtown Phoenix. I would spend hours leafing through archival information, historical documents and I did a little light reading as well.

I found that libraries became my refuge. They helped me escape an abusive mom. They improved my mind, my vocabulary and my sense of social decency (Did you know you should whisper in a library to not disturb other readers?)

Because of this experience, I am a big promoter of libraries. If you haven't been to one lately, you should go. Spend at least 1/2 hour looking through the books, magazines, cds, books on tape, dvds and of course, their calendar of events. I'm sure something at the library will get your interest and you will be back soon. Look for me in the archives, conning the librarian into showing me some of the old Arizona Republics.
